Mom, can you take me to school? Melissa isn’t going to be able to take me today!” Tabby hollers up the stairs as I am rushing to finish getting ready and head out the door to work. I can feel the tension build in me and the frustration rising immediately. I holler back, “Tabitha, you need to tell me these things the night before, so that we can plan for it, I’m already running late!”
“Mom! I didn’t know last night, Melissa just now called, and so I’m telling you now!”
“Well, why didn’t Melissa call last night? Why is she just now letting you know this?!”
“How should I know? Maybe she just found out. All I know is that I need a ride to school. Can you please, please take me? Please, Mom!”
Kellie Ann jumps in at her sister’s defense. “Mom, Melissa really did just now call, she’s not lying; I am the one who answered the phone!”
I holler back, “I’m not accusing her of lying!”
“Well, excuse me!” Kellie Ann says.
I look at Bruce with a bit of frustration, and he just shrugs his shoulder and shakes his head, obviously not wanting to get in on the chaos. I imagine Tabitha thanks Kellie Ann for the save, giving her a big high five. They stand united as the sisterhood prevails!
Be joyful always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not put out the Spirit’s fire… 1 Thessalonians 5:16–19 NIV
